| Review 'Whereas the first part of the book deals with the mechanisms by which DR exerts its anti-aging effects, the second part looks at different animal models studied, such as C. elegans, drosophila and aging non-human primates which all benefit from DR. The final chapters deal with specific illnesses such as Alzheimer's disease where a link with amyloid degradation and DR is suggested via the insulin-degrading enzyme as well as a favorable effect on the catabolism of amyloid precursor protein and on cancer, while DR seems to slow and retard carcinogenesis. All the chapters are carefully referenced. The book is a stimulating update on what is known about DR. […] The book is an excellent introduction for all interested in the field.
