‘The book is organized into fourteen sections. In each section, the coverage of the various aspects of diabetic retinopathy is very comprehensive. ...

Overall, the book is very lucidly written and well illustrated which will be of great help to basic researchers who may aim to find out newer therapies for this blinding disorder.

To have one book to cover the pathogenic mechanisms in causing diabetic retinopathy is a very difficult assignment because the coverage of material is so voluminous. The editors of this book need to be commended for such a lucid, well researched book covering all aspects of diabetic retinopathy.‘

‘Though it is heavy on detail, the chapters are easy to read and each chapter stands alone providing a reference for researchers and clinicians when attempting to correlate basic science with clinical manifestations of diabetic retinopathy and maculopathy. The chapters are well ordered and start from a discussion of clinical and pathologic correlates of retinopathy through different aspects of pathogenesis and targets for therapy to end with a discussion of current problems in clinical and basic research. ...

The colour images are of high quality and there is a comprehensive list of references at the end of each chapter. The book provides an excellent resource for both clinicians and researchers as each chapter attempts to emphasise the clinical implications of pathogenic pathways in diabetic retinopathy. Its concise sizie adds to its utility and I have no hesitation in recommending this text to researchers and clinicians who seek to gain a better understanding of clinical and pathological correlates in diabetic retinopathy.‘
