A summary of recent advances
Even though gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a common disorder, there still exists a multitude of unresolved questions. The present publication contains updates by distinguished experts on various aspects of GERD, as well as some original contributions dealing with community-based and pathophysiological issues. Several chapters focus on the prevention and treatment of GERD; Moreover, data on emerging aspects such as the epidemiology of complications, extraesophageal manifestations of the disorder, screening and surveillance of Barrett’s esophagus, its chemoprevention and the new aspects of esophageal surgical therapies are presented.
