Submission

External Language Editing Service

NIH-Funded Research
The U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) mandates under the NIH Public Access Policy that final, peer-reviewed manuscripts appear in its
digital database within 12 months of the official publication date. As a service to authors, Karger submits the final version of your article
on your behalf to PubMed Central. For those selecting our premium Author's ChoiceTM service,
we will send your article immediately upon publishing, accelerating the accessibility of your work without the usual embargo.

Self-Archiving
Karger permits authors to archive their pre-prints (i.e. pre-refereeing) or post-prints (i.e. final draft post-refereeing) on their personal or institution's servers,
provided the following conditions are met: Articles may not be used for commercial purposes, must be linked to the publisher's version, and must acknowledge the publisher's copyright.
Authors selecting Karger's Author's ChoiceTM feature, however, are also permitted to archive the
final, published version of their article, which includes copyediting and design improvements as well as citation links.
Online-first Journals
More and more Karger journals are published 'online first': All articles are published electronically ahead of print, either with the definite citation line or the assigned DOI number. Thus, articles will be fully citable and available online shortly after their authors' approval to print

CrossRef/DOI
As a member of the CrossRef, Karger utilizes Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) in bibliographic data to facilitate unique and persistent identification of research material. Journal article citations contain reference links to source material located on the World Wide Web, when available. In addition to persistent identification, CrossRef also facilitates the discovery of research material on the Web through the CrossRef Search Pilot initiative powered by a Google search engine. This collaborative effort launches a typical Google search but filters the result to include the scholarly research content from participating scholarly publishers. Thus, reducing the false hits produced by general web searches.

Use of EndNote is recommended for easy management and formatting of citations and reference lists.

Errors in Medline
We take great care to send Medline/PubMed appropriately encoded data and double-check the spelling of names, particularly with regard to accents and signs not covered by HTML. Despite these efforts, conversion errors can occur.
If the mistake is only on Medline, please go to the Reporting Errors Section of PubMed FAQs at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/PubMed/faqs.html for instructions. You can also e-mail them at pubmed@ncbi.nlm.nih.gov. Please note: Medline may prefer not to use the special signs we supply them with for technical or editorial reasons. Furthermore, Medline reduces diacritics to their root characters: Authors wishing to preserve the phonetic meaning of diacritics in their names must spell them accordingly when submitting manuscripts (e.g. Müller should be Mueller).
If the mistake also shows up on the Karger site and/or in the printed journal, contact info@karger.ch or use the Error Report form. Please state journal name, volume and issue number as well as article title and the error.
