Author's ChoiceTM
Author's ChoiceTM is a publishing option available for all our journals, which enables you as the author to decide whether your article will be distributed under the traditional publishing model or whether it will be freely available online for all readers.
Authors whose funding agencies/institutes require them to deposit a copy of their article in an institutional archive (PubMed Central or other) may select the Author's ChoiceTMoption to comply with this requirement. This is a permissible cost in your grants.
Your decision for either the traditional or the new model does not affect editorial decisions at any stage: All articles will still be peer-reviewed, copy-edited and professionally produced, and will be available both online and in print.
You will be asked to inform us of your choice when you return the proofs and reprint order form. Please note that the Author's ChoiceTM model entails a one-time publication fee of CHF 2'750.00. This fee is independent of any standard charges for supplementary pages, color images etc. which may apply.
There is also a licensing agreement (sample, PDF 25 KB) to sign at the same time, which will allow you to re-use the article for educational and research purposes as long as the author and the journal are fully acknowledged. Commercial application rights remain with Karger Publishers who will also seek to protect your work from misuse.
