Karger does not provide the received user's information to third parties. The main use of this information is to inform users of important changes to the Karger website, new value-added services, as well as new publications. Furthermore, Karger collects statistical information to strengthen Karger's marketing efforts by monitoring traffic on the Karger website. This allows Karger to identify specific target areas or groups, enabling Karger to further improve the Karger website.
The Karger website uses „Cookies“. These are small amounts of data sent from Karger’s web server to the user's hard drive that identify those who have previously visited the Karger website. If users configures their browser to reject cookies, users may still use some, but not all, portions of the Karger website and will be prompted to enter their ID and password each time they access an article requiring a subscription.
All payments are by credit card only. The transaction is secure: standard-procedure SSL or SET are used and all data are encrypted. No separate invoice is issued/sent, but the customer will receive a confirmation/receipt message with key details of the transaction. The payment process will be operated by our partners SaferPay or Datatrans. Customer’s credit card data are neither stored, copied or downloaded to Karger servers nor are they passed on to third parties. None of these data will be used for mailings or other promotional activities.
Purchases of online products (articles or book chapters in electronic format) cannot be canceled once the transaction has been approved and the confirmation has been sent. Such online items cannot be returned for credit either.
By choosing the Karger Article Bundle (KAB) prepay option the customer will be entitled to purchase a previously determined number of journal articles and/or book chapters within a period of five (5) years after the customer's account has been charged. At the end of the five-year period any remaining credit on the customer's account will expire.
Please note that these access rights cannot be transferred to another article/chapter or book online.
Online Access to Karger Content
Online access is for personal, non-commercial use only. Items may be downloaded to a personal computer and/or printed out for customers convenience. Any distribution of online items or the User ID/password to access them online is a violation of the copyright.
Librarians, research or personal assistants etc., who use this service on behalf of others, are entitled to pass on the item to their client.
